Signing in & setup
EveryoneYou sign in once, set your display name, and pick which family you’re visiting. After that, the book remembers you.
Signing in
From the sign-in screen, press Sign In. You’ll be taken to a secure login page to enter your email and password. When that’s done, you come back to the book automatically.

Setting your display name
The first time you sign in, the book asks for your name. This is the name that will appear on your comments and contributions, so use what family would recognize — “Aunt Martha”, “John Reed”, or whatever fits.
You can skip this and add it later, but comments will use “Anonymous” until you do.
To change your display name, sign out and sign back in — or ask an admin to set it for you.
Choosing a family
If you belong to only one family, the book opens straight to its home page. If you belong to several, you’ll see a picker asking which one you want to visit.
Switching families
On the home page, open the menu (☰) in the top-right corner. If you belong to more than one family, you’ll see a Switch Family item that takes you back to the picker.

Your home page is a grid of every book in this family. Click any cover to open the book. If the book doesn’t have a cover set yet, it shows the first page instead.
AI usage
Admins and organizers can see the family’s AI usage this month by opening any book and clicking the Admin button — the usage meter lives at the top of the Admin Panel and shows how much of the monthly allowance has gone toward AI features like captions, transcripts, and chat. It fills up as the family uses those features and resets at the start of each month.
When usage gets close to the limit a banner appears inside the book to let everyone know. If the limit is reached, AI features pause until the next month or until an admin raises the allowance — reading, comments, and everything already in the book keep working as normal.
Signing out
Open the menu (☰) in the top-right corner of any screen and pick Logout. The book will ask you to sign in again next time.
